Is it Still Aligned?
I often hear from clients who are writing things down and keeping their heads clear saying, “I can't seem to keep the habit of a Weekly Review." They're capturing their actions, yet the review falls by the wayside.
Capturing actions seems to be an easy habit to maintain because it offers instant relief. Yet it only keeps the head empty and relaxed going forward if a regular Weekly Review also is taking place.
To maintain the experience of relaxed control and preserve our self-trust and confidence, we simply have to look! Look to see each item on each list, delete what's completed, add any new next actions, and let go of anything we no longer intend to finish.
Without our eyes on each project and each action, the agreements we've made essentially return to the mind, and stress starts to build.
Seeing the whole picture brings us back to balance.
One way to look at the Weekly Review is similar to those look-out points in a scenic area where you can see the whole landscape and ask if each project/action is still aligned to complete.
The essence of the review is to bring our systems current. It is not a time to do tasks. In looking at the calendar and action lists, items that are missing will get added and what is complete will get deleted. I look at the Weekly Review as recommitting to your intention to complete what you have on your calendar and lists.
My experience has been that when two or more are participating, the focus amplifies. Choosing to partner with another for a Weekly Review focus can assist.
For some time, I have been asked to do a group Weekly Review and it now may be the time now to put that in motion. It could work on Zoom where we gather and then mute/turn of the video and all do our own review. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, treat yourself to a Weekly Review if it's not already a regular practice. And remember to do some kind of acknowledgment or appreciation upon completion.
You and completing a Weekly Review are worth celebrating.

Martha's Invitations:
- If you need to start a Weekly Review practice, begin by scheduling one Weekly Review on your calendar and keeping your agreement to do it. If it supports you, add another appointment with yourself for the following week.
- Notice whether you're aligned with what you write down and agree to do as you're recording it.
- See if you tend to do things out of obligation or choice.
